Weddings on the Amalfi Coast: much more than a white veil and a long flight of steps.

Ancient Arsenals - Lighting in the aisle

More photos - Weddings on the Amalfi Coast: much more than a white veil and a long flight of steps.

The Amalfi Coast has always been on the list of the most popular wedding locations of the world.

Walking down Amalfi’s Duomo flight of steps, with the most elegant white dress a woman may ever wear has drawn couples from all over the world to celebrate their loving union on the Amalfi Coast.

The wedding business on the Amalfi Coast is huge, and very efficient, with super experienced wedding planners providing all the help a couple may need even without ever meeting the couple, or at least doing most of the work while the weds-to-be are in their home towns many kilometers away from the Coast. The appeal of getting married on the Amalfi Coast has even managed to override Italian strict Catholic rules about weddings, and from what I have gathered on the web and on my trips in the Coast, a couple can get married pretty much how and where they like the most.

It’s not only the client to always be right around here, as much as it is the bride.

As I have already said in a previous post, there are places such as Ravello where when you go there with your partner, getting married while there almost feels mandatory, like a seaside Las Vegas, if you are not careful you may get married without even noticing it! To be fair, the place is so beautiful and the locations are so well arranged that temptation is very difficult to resist. There are all sorts of wedding parties arrangements, from the more ordinary ones in hotels and restaurants to exceptional receptions on boats, or in Positano’s clubs, like Music on the Rocks.

Here romantic music lovers can combine their lifelong passion with their lifelong love, and for once there will be no jealousy! Just see the photos and you’ll be proposing by the evening!

Amalfi is certainly one of the most sought after locations, especially Amafli's Cathedral. However there must be quite a high demand for civil weddings too, to the point the on the council website there is a very straightforward list with the different prices for weddings, as well as a list with all the documents needed to get married here in case you come from abroad. So far civil weddings have been officiated in the Salone Morelli in the Municipio di Amalfi building, but word has it that Amalfi’s Centro di Storia e Cultura Amalfitana, normally dealing with medieval archives and dusty books, as well as brilliantly organizing conventions, museum tours and lectures, is considering renting out the Ancient Arsenal for weddings too.

For all those considering (or dreaming of) getting married in Amalfi, this is great news, and let’s hope that it will confirmed very soon!

The Ancient Arsenals are a truly unique place, cherishing the core of the Amalfi Coast’s history. The venue was also beautifully refurbished, with incredible lighting design that I would imagine to make a bride glow like nowhere else! The aisle where I would imagine brides will walk towards their groom is simply one of a kind.

Each step going down the aisle will echo of the history that happened in these premises, that is, the history that made the glory of this city.

And if that weren’t enough right behind the groom there will be Roman ruins and medieval statues sharing this magical moment with you. I think that out of all the wedding solutions on the Amalfi Coast this is really an original one, which would allow the couple to really take into their big day the real atmospheres of this gorgeous place, which will stay with them throughout their life. Surely it is not a venue for large parties of guests, or for extremely fancy wedding arrangements, but if the rumors were to be true, I think this is by far one of the most romantic places where to get married on the Amalfi Coast.

And it really wouldn’t surprise me if when walking out, heading towards the seafront, to take some photos on the pier, if you looked back, for a split second it will seem as if all the people that inhabited these Arsenals where all there for you, to celebrate your love.
