Villa Giannino in Ravello
Villa Giannino is a graceful villa built upon a terracing almost at the top of the rocky spur where Ravello stretches, sheer above the sea.
From the villa you have the privilege from dawn to dusk to see the very view that has made Ravello so famous around the world, sharing the feeling of being “suspended between the sky and the sea”.
Access to Villa Giannino is down a flight of 61 steps. The building is on one floor, placed in the middle of a long and narrow terrace paved with terracotta tiles, and shaded by a tall citron tree and by olives trees growing in flower beds. The apartment has a panoramic private terrace that extends in front of all of the rooms, and it has access to a large 50 square meters patio (approximately 540 square feet) and to the 150 square meters terrace (approximately 1615 square feet) with trees of. The patio is equipped with garden furniture, and with a barbecue. On the terrace with trees, two large circular benches invite you to sit and relax outdoor. Your sight will go over the uninterrupted view in front of you: from the slopes of the Lattari mountains (in front of you), to the narrow valley below you, where the village of Minori stretches out to sea, to the inlets of the coast, up to Capo D’Orso (Bear Cape), and to a wide horizon of sea. The terrace and the external walls of the villa are decorated with majolica pictures and bas-reliefs, made in the sixties by an excellent local maestro, whose name is, indeed, Giannino.
The villa is in the center of Ravello, approximately 200 meters (220 yards) from the main square (Piazza Duomo), where you will find shops and cafes with outdoor tables. Bars and restaurants are 30 meters away (yards) from Villa Giannino, and a paid parking lot is only 40 meters distant. Villa Giannino's terrace is built is not far from the famous gardens of Villa Rufolo, the historical villa where every summer the International Music Festival of Ravello is held. The entrance to Villa Rufolo is approximately 200 meters (220 yards) away, making it very easy to attend Ravello Festival's performances at your own leisure.
To stay at Villa Giannino you will not need a car, as the bus stop to Naples and to the other villages of the Amalfi Coast is just 100 meters (110 yards) away from the villa.
The closest beach is at 5 km (3 miles), and can be reached by bus. From Ravello you will be able to walk along footpaths that will take you from the heights of the village (350 meters/1150 feet above the sea level) to the sea in 30 minutes. Also you cannot miss the many walks among the rich Mediterranean scrub.
